It’s been a while between drinks (in pubs) – This ISO Perth beer tour is here to help
Beer is the nectar of the gods. It’s brewed, consumed and talked about at great length, with immense passion and staunch rivalries and Perth beer is no exception.
On this Perth beer tour, you’ll get a BTS of the best breweries and do a “no tastings” tour with Hidden deTours and special guests, Daniel Rootman (Daniel Loves Beer) and Chris Buckee (Chris Buckee Reviews Beer) Perth beer enthusiasts who love the froffs.
The Perth beer tour makes four stops; Nowhereman Brewing Co., Bright Tank Brewing Co., Seasonal Brewing Co., and Blasta Brewing Co. – do you wanna see how it went?
Read on beer-loving friends!
He’s a real Nowhereman, sitting in his Nowhere Land, making all his Nowhere plans…for No-one.
Nowhereman gets its name from The Beatles song, and they love a banger as much as the next guy. Their Kylie beer proved very popular and there may or may not be footage of brewery shenanigans with some gold booty shorts.
During the live stream on Facebook we’re taken behind the scenes by Luke, who chats Lagers and passes us onto resident Cicerone, Pia.
She talks Chris and Daniel through the featured beers and shows off her passionate and extensive knowledge of the froffs.
Next stop – Bright Tank Brewing Co.
Bright Tank Brewing Co. is in the back roads of East Perth and a favourite among beer-loving footy fans due to its proximity to Perth Stadium.
The live stream catches owner Matt out the front where the BBQ s being packed up as they completely sold out of food! How awesome to see in these “unprecedented times” some businesses are finding success in their pivots.
Matt talks about how it was all his wife’s idea to open the brewery and a bit of the history behind the tanks and we follow him inside to meet Tim, talk yeast and meet Daniel and Chris to talk about the feature beers.
Off to Maylands to see new kid on the block, Seasonal Brewing Co.
The sun is shining as the tour lands in Maylands at the beer garden on Guildford road, where we see Nick and find out the brewing philosophy behind keeping it seasonal.
The tour heads inside to brewer Brodie who talks us through the feature range with Chris and Daniel and shows off his cans. We’re mad about the new packaged selection and the cans look the business.
Now they head off to Blasta Brewing Co.
Blasta is “delicious” in Gaelic and we start this part of the tour under the unicorn mural – an ode to Scotland’s national animal (yep- their national animal is the unicorn!)
Josh from Blasta tells Monique about the Scottish link, and the Haggis Spring Rolls on their menu – which are incredibly popular and we’d hesitantly give ’em a go.
Next the tour’s welcomed into the brewery for a BTS on the process and the canning machine by brewer Grant, who walks us up to the other brewer, Hugh who chats through the range of feature beers with Daniel and Chris.
The Perth beer tour ends here.
So there you have it folks, a pub with no beer might be lonesome, morbed or drear – but a brewery without tastings is just as interesting while you can still sip the whares from your couch.
So interesting to see BTS and meet the brewers who make our local beers. And to see the venues adapt from their normal state (which would have been packed!) to be making deliveries, selling takeaway food and getting their amber refreshments into cans so we can enjoy them and continue to support out local hospo people doing it tough.
