WA again sees a low number of confirmed coronavirus cases.

Health Minister Roger Cook and Department of Health Director General Dr David Russell-Weisz have provided a Perth coronavirus update.

Overnight WA had only 1 case of coronavirus confirmed.

Mr Cook confirmed the new confirmed case was a health care worked from Royal Perth Hospital who is now currently in self-isolation.

The additional of the one new cases takes WA’s overall total to 546.

WA Coronavirus snapshot:

  • Currently 96 active cases in WA
  • 10 are in the state’s regional areas
  • 26 are currently being treated in metro hospitals
  • 5 are in ICU
  • 443 individuals have recovered from the coronavirus in WA
  • 30,112 individuals have been tested in WA with 29,566 returning negative

Soft return for elective surgery

WA Health Director General David Russell-Weisz has stated by next Tuesday, WA would see a soft return to elective surgery, with priority patients to be contacted in the next week to re-book their procedures.

Mr Cook urged those who had elective surgery cancelled to not call the hospitals and to instead allow the process to take place and those with the highest need to be contacted first.
