Latest Perth coronavirus update from the weekend – 5 new cases confirmed and 20 active cases now being monitored in Western Australia.

WA’s total of confirmed COVID-19 cases now stands at 714.

There are 20 active cases and 685 people have recovered from the virus in WA.

Two of the five cases are associated with the Key Integrity and AL Messilah vessels.

The Key Integrity case remains on the vessel, and the AL Messilah case remains in a State-run quarantine hotel.

The remaining three new cases from the weekend are from international travellers returning to Perth and are all in a hotel quarantine.

Ship update

The Key Integrity vessel will has sailed from Geraldton Port for Fremantle Port alllowing the Department of Health to manage the vessel in conjunction with AL Messilah.

No port in Western Australia is allowing shore-leave for any international maritime crew.

This means that no crew on these vessels can disembark – expect for supervised medical treatment. 

New Zealanders Border Hop

The agreement between Australia and New Zealand to establish a one-way travel bubble allowing New Zealanders to fly to the NT and NSW has gone awry, with States like WA and Victoria confirming the exempt travellers are showing up at their airports.

Mark McGowan raised concerns with “border hopping” yesterday, as 23 New Zealanders flew into the State from NSW.

There have been 458,327 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those tested, 78,187 were from regional WA.
