The wrap-up of Perth COVID-19 news over the weekend has seen 1 new case recorded a 13-year-old male returning from overseas and 3 active cases in WA.

The latest Perth COVID-19 update from the Department of Health has reported one new case of COVID-19 in Western Australia overnight.

The new confirmed case is a 13-year-old male – returned to Perth from overseas and is a close contact of a confirmed case.

Western Australia now has three active cases – all in hotel quarantine.

Western Australia COVID-19 numbers:

  • Total cases: 662
  • Recovered: 650
  • Active cases: 3

Over the weekend it has been reported 1,189 individuals have been swabbed.

Further COVID-19 vaccine investment

The Morrison Government has already given $1.7 billion in financial backing for two very promising trials.

One – the Astra Zeneca/Oxford University trial, which has come back online after being paused following one of the candidates falling ill.

Two – The CSL / University of Queensland trial, which on top of being part of the $1.7 billion plan, has received $5 million in Government funding this year.
