Get Ready for the Return of Skyworks this Australia Day

It’s the largest one-day community event in Western Australia, and it’s back in 2022 accompanied by a range of other Aussie-themed community events.

The City Of Perth Skyworks brings the WA community together each year to celebrate everything Australia on January 26th, though it had a brief pause last year due to the COVID pandemic.

This year’s event is hosting a bunch of free family entertainment for everyone to enjoy, community events and, of course, a spectacular fireworks display, so you can reflect, respect and celebrate with your city this Australia Day.

The dazzling display is about to light up Perth for its 37th year, along with a number of community events in the days leading up to.

Skyworks Event: What’s On

Held on Australia Day, the Skyworks main event kicks off Wednesday, January 26th.

3pm – 7:45pm

The day begins at 3 pm with the annual Birak concert which is a free Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Concert held at Supreme Court Gardens. This year’s line-up features WA talent, including a traditional Welcome to Country, Lilly Gogos, Flewnt, Pipeline Band and more. In addition to the jam-packed stage schedule, there will be community stalls, the Elders Marquee and the return of Perth Heat for those sports enthusiasts.

Over at Langley Park is the free Entertainment Zone presented by Lotterywest. There’s fun for the whole family featuring everything from mini-golf to motocross stunt shows, a water playground and international food trucks to satisfy all taste buds. Plus you can catch an Air Show of daring acrobatic displays, plane formations and more above the Swan River.

8 pm

What you’re all here for, the big finale.

Make sure you’re set up by 8 pm to ‘Ooh’ and ‘Ahh’ for 30-minutes of breathtaking fireworks as the city sky explodes into colour. Watch the largest and longest Australia Day fireworks display in the nation!

We’re assured they’ve got a few new tricks up their sleeves this year, so be ready for a banging show.
