The City of Light Drone Show will light up Perth this February.
You’ve probably often heard Perth referred to as the City of Lights, but do you know why?
In 1962 astronaut John Glenn became the first American to orbit the Earth, flying over Perth on his way. The people of Perth turned on their lights in a display that was visible from space as he deemed it the ‘city of light’.
Perth’s City of Light Drone Show will celebrate the 60th anniversary of John Glenn’s memorable trip around the world on Saturday the 19th of February at Elizabeth Quay.
The event will centre around the theme of light in various forms, featuring Aboriginal Dreamtime stories and touching on the historical journey of Perth.
From 5 pm you can head down to catch roving entertainment, workshops, food trucks and more. The grand finale of the evening will start at 8 pm with an impressive 300-piece drone light show.
