While we’re just about ready for spring by this point, the last month of winter is heating up with plenty of hot events happening around Perth to get us through.

Which ones should you lock in your calendar? We’ve got the scoop on everything you can’t miss with the top things to do in Perth in August.

Disney’s Frozen The Musical

Headlining What’s on in Perth in August is a Broadway hit.

Musical lovers, I hope you’ve been practising your best Let It Go renditions because Frozen The Broadway Musical is upon us at Crown Theatre this August.

Adapted from the Disney film and original 1844 fairy tale by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen The Snow Queen, Frozen is brought to fresh theatrical life in this luxurious new musical. 

The stage production features a full score, including 12 new songs from the original Academy Award-winning songwriters written especially for the stage. Plus, you’re never too old to attend a Disney musical. Never.


Artisans Of The Republic | July to October

WA’s food scene is undoubtedly one of the most impressive in the country, and the Republic of Fremantle’s immersive dinner series is an appropriate celebration of our finest artisan producers. 

Following a successfully sold-out season last year, the return of Artisans of The Republic is an event that should be marked on every fellow Perth foodie’s calendar. 

Keen diners will be taken on a journey of tastes over four collaborative dinners from a lineup of home-grown artisans, chefs, and experienced cocktail makers serving up plates and cocktails that will have mouths watering. This year’s lineup includes Fins Seafood, Offshoot Coffee, The Mushroom Guys, and Dirty Clean Food alongside award-winning head chef Emily Jones.

Froth Town | 19 – 20 August

If beer is your thing, Froth Town is an event you’ll want to book into the calendar.

Explore over 75 breweries, cideries, distilleries, and wineries, dabble in some carnival games, ride the bucking bull, further your love for a brew by visiting the Grand Beer Hall, be entertained at the dad bod wet t-shirt comp or test your skills in a game of giant beer pong. And that’s only scratching the surface.

It previously ran over three days, but this year their packing all the goodness into two days of fun with three sessions over F*Yeah Friday and Super Saturday.

Friday will welcome adults only, in an 18+ event that could be best described as an ‘Adult Disneyland’, while Saturday is keeping it fam friendly with roaming entertainment and activities for the little ones before moving into party mode at night.

Plus, you can get your hands on the whacky and wonderful lineup of festival releases on offer this year including a Strawberry Bubblegum Sour and Imperial Birthday Cake Stout.

Servo x Republic of Fremantle Gin Din Masterclasses | 4th August

Two newer kids on the block, Servo and Republic of Fremantle are joining forces to host a monthly gin blending masterclass kicking off in August.

Classes will include cocktails, dinner and your very own personalised bottle of gin to take home all for $120pp, with the first date set for 4th of August.

Homelessness Week with Pan Pacific Perth | 1 – 7 August

Bobby’s BBQ Truck, located at Pan Pacific Perth, is calling on the community to drive awareness about those sleeping rough on Perth’s streets.

You can head down and grab a super tasty bacon and egg roll any time throughout homelessness week (Monday 1 August – Sunday 7 August) from 6.30 am – 2 pm daily, with all proceeds going towards helping RUAH secure a permanent home for someone sleeping rough on the streets of Perth, protecting women and children who are escaping family and domestic violence, and creating opportunity and pathways for people struggling with mental illness and life crisis. There will also be a ‘Pay and Go’ machine set up at Bobby’s where customers can make an additional donation, or you can pay it forward by buying a meal for someone who can’t afford it themselves.

Wrapping your hands around a bacon and egg roll for a good cause? Say no more, we’re in.


Sex and The City Quiz + Bottomless Brunch | 6th August

It’s the combo we never knew we needed – a Sex and The City quiz and a bottomless brunch.

Get your gals together and head to The Subiaco Hotel on Saturday 6 August in your best attire (Carrie Bickmore style) to be wined, dined, and tested on your knowledge. The menu will feature five classic brunch dishes including winter warmers like eggs benny, Belgian waffles, or a brekkie burger, as well as classic Prosecco, Peach Bellinis, Espresso Martinis, or local beers and wines for 2 hours.

Karrinyup Wine Mixer | 19th August

It’s the freakin’ Karrinyup Wine Mixer.

If you’re a fan of wine then keep Friday 19th of August free for Karrinyup’s inaugural wine mixer at the stunning Good Company bar.

The first of the mixers will shower its guests with 4 hours of free-flowing wine. Paul Nelson’s stable of wines will be the centrepiece – showcasing brands such as Paul Nelson, Karriview, Le Viandier, and even a special tasting of their famous LOAM. Food-wise you’ll be kept fueled by roaming canapes, a live oyster shucking station, and a rotating Tuscan pasta station while live music provides the vibes.

College of Grapes Sophmore Edition: Frankland Estate | 3rd August

We’re not ones for studying, but we can certainly get behind a session of grape school.

Back for a second year, Cooee’s classroom commences with Frankland Estate, featuring an insightful masterclass from winemaker and vigneron, Elizabeth Smith. You’ll embark on a journey through one of the most isolated vineyards in the world as you are introduced to the acclaimed Riesling and Syrah with a secret taste of upcoming batch releases.

If you’re a fan of Little Creatures, you’ll be excited to hear they’ve got a new brew launching this month.
