Do not travel
People within the Perth, Peel and Southwest regions should not leave during the lockdown period and stay home.
People can leave the Peel or the Southwest, only to access or deliver essential health and emergency services, and other essential requirements, or to return to their home.
Seven checkpoints have been established by WA Police in priority areas to ensure there is no unapproved travel between regions.
Unless you meet an exceptional circumstance, WA Police will ask you to justify why you need to be out during the lockdown – if you need to travel between regions please ensure you have supporting evidence, ie a letter from your employer or evidence of a medical appointment.
Investigation is underway
After the COVID-19 breach, a new investigation will be launched to find out exactly how the hotel quarantine worker picked up the virus.
“A further review of the WA’s Hotel quarantine arrangements, processes and procedures will be undertaken immediately including any learnings from incidents in other states and internationally and recent incidents in WA,” said Mr McGowan.
