Perth London Direct Virgin: Richard Branson Wants in with Virgin Airlines
Perth London direct with Virgin? Billionaire legend Richard Branson says he wants Virgin Airlines to fly Perth London Direct soon.
The entrepreneur, who was speaking to media onboard a Virgin Australia flight this week, suggested he would like to see the airline adopt the route.
Branson told ‘Your Money’ TV host Brooke Corte that he “plans for a non-stop Aust to UK flight” as soon as possible.
The move would put Virgin in direct competition with Qantas and would also presumably spark a price war for the non-stop flights.
Qantas has operated a 17-hour flight to London from Perth since April and plans to add a Perth to Paris flight are also shaping.
The move by Virgin Airlines would send alarm bells at Qantas HQ in Sydney.
Qantas had secured funding from the WA Government for space and infrastructure at Perth Airport for the service.
If Virign did introduce such a service, it would be another boost for the WA tourism industry, with more people coming to Perth, either domestically on the way to the UK, as well as bump up visitors from Britain to Western Australia.

69-year-old Branson is in Australia this month, launching new businesses and making media appearances.
The comments were made on a Virgin Australia dubbed “the world’s first meditation flight.”
Virgin will offer guided meditations on domestic and international flights through an in-flight app on smartphones and tablets.
