Araluen Botanical Park

Don’t miss out on the kaleidoscope of colours that have burst into bloom at Araluen Botanic Park.

Update: Although the official festival is over, there are still plenty of flowers in bloom. Please check directly with park for daily updates on how much is still blooming.

Take a scenic drive to the picturesque hills of Roleystone for a day of family fun amongst the tulips. Over 145,000 tulips are in bloom throughout the park as well as hundreds of other species.

Explore the winding pathways and be delighted by colourful Camellias and magnificent magnolias. Breathe in the scent of daffodils and the fresh eucalypt of the gum trees while enjoying a picnic lunch in the park grounds.

There’s plenty of events happening at Araluen as well, including the ‘Wonderful Indonesian Spring Festival‘ on September 29th and 30th.

Delve into artists’ studios on the Armadale Hills Open Studio Arts Trail

Armadale Society of Artists – Open Studio Arts Trail

Calling all artists, art lovers and appreciators! The 21st -23rd of September is the final weekend of the Armadale Hills Open Studio Arts Trail.

Welcome to a fascinating world of creative discovery. Our artists are opening their studios to the public for an intimate view of their inspiring spaces and creative processes. The arts trail involves over 50 artists across 25 art studios throughout the Perth Hills Armadale region.

Discover a journey of creativity as you fossick along the trail, discovering photography, paintings, textiles, wood-turning, glass, aboriginal art, ceramics and many more mediums. As you pass through the rolling green hills, bursting with wildflowers and scenic views at every turn you’ll see why artistic inspiration is so easily found.

Remember to grab a bite to eat along the way at one of the many cafes supporting the trail, The Organic Circle, Genesis in the Hills and Avocados Bar and Grill.

Pop into the Perth Hills Armadale Visitor Centre at 40 Jull Street (open Mon – Fri 9am-4pm and Sat – Sun 9am-2pm) to pick up a copy of the map, or download a digital version to print at home.

Bedfordale Bush Markets – Nature Conservation

22nd September 8am-1pm – Free

Head to the beautiful town of Bedfordale for a country style local market in the bush, showcasing all the local area has to offer.

The Bedfordale Bush Market is held monthly, but no two markets are ever the same with each market having a theme that drives the stallholders, activities and entertainment. September’s theme is very fitting for the spring time season – nature conservation!
Bring the kids along for fun with the Eco Faeries to inspire the next generation of eco warriors with interactive learning and nature craft activities.

Meanwhile, the local Wildflower Society will be running guided Bushwalks at 9 and 11am providing the perfect opportunity to explore the wildflowers in the surrounding Bungendore Park.

Stock up on fresh local produce, native plants for your garden and delicious food and coffee as your browse the selection of hand-picked stalls.

Jarrahdale Log Chop and SJ Lions Country Fair

30th September 10am-4pm – Free

Experience a day of country life in the historic town of Jarrahdale. Located just 50 minutes from Perth, the drive to Jarrahdale is a peaceful one, travelling past green rolling hills and fields. Keep an eye out for blooming wildflowers like wattles and bottlebrushes along the way.

Marvel at the strength and skill of world class wood choppers as they compete in the Axemen competition and enjoy the annual Serpentine Jarrahdale Lions Country Fair. Delight in live entertainment, kid’s rides and activities as well as local produce and variety stalls.

Parking available off Millars Road and a free shuttle bus will operate on a continuous loop to and from the event.

Cider House Sets at Naked Apple Cider

If you are yet to visit Naked Apple Cider the upcoming long weekend provides the perfect opportunity to experience this beautiful patch of the hills.

Set amongst 6.4 acres of magical gardens and native bushland, Naked Apple serve up a delightful range of good honest food with a gourmet twist.

Meals are accompanied by their house-made wild fermented ciders. Cider not your jam? Never fear, Naked Apple also service up a range of Perth Hills brews and wines from the local area.

Naked Apple are celebrating the long weekend with a sweet line up of five local acts over three days, as well as airing the footy finals at the Deck Bar.

All you need to do is pick your favourite session!
