The WA Government have confirmed that they will be selling the naming rights to Perth Stadium.

Ever since it was announced that Perth was to build a new stadium everyone has wondered what the name would be.

The previous WA government were firm on their stance that the stadium would remain Perth Stadium, despite the fact selling the name would help pay for stadium costs – suggesting that leaving the name Perth within the stadium provided added tourism value.

Opposition Leader Mike Nahan says ‘the value of the stadium is in the name, that’s why someone’s going to pay millions of dollars for it, and the best name is Perth,’ he told reporters.

‘They will make more money by attracting tourists from interstate and internationally here and getting the rewards from that.’

How Much Will Perth Stadium Naming Rights Be Worth?

The sale of Perth Stadium naming rights is said to generate $10 million or more over four years.

Treasurer Ben Wyatt stated mining companies, banks and supermarkets might place bids, but the state government was not interested in selling the rights for either venue to a tobacco, fast food or alcohol company.

Afterall WA is the mining state, so it would make sense that mining giants BHP or Rio Tinto could see their name on Perth’s newest stadium to partner with their real estate in Perth’s skyline.
