While today was the hottest in 5 years and the hottest day in February in 23 years, you will have to cast your mind back to 1997 when Perth recorded a ridiculous 44.5C on February 26.
This is also off the back of December’s heatwave with back to back to back 40C days which is made all the more alarming when December 2019 and January 2020 monthly rainfall were well below average for Perth.
Perth weather’s dry end to 2019 and start to 2020 could be made even worse if Perth follows the trend of the past 2 years with February historically being extremely dry months.
