Schools and community groups across Perth and Peel can now apply for a share of $10 million in funding to support tree planting and greening projects through the State Government’s new Let’s Grow grants program.
The initiative is the first major rollout under the Let’s Grow Action Plan 2026-2030, which delivers on the Perth and Peel Urban Greening Strategy. Over the next four years, $2.5 million per financial year will be allocated to combating urban heat and boosting the tree canopy across the metro area.
What’s on offer
Round one of the program includes two funding streams: small grants ranging from $500.00 to $10,000, and large grants from $10,001 to $100,000. The funding is designed to support local projects that increase tree canopy and greening in everyday spaces, from school grounds and road verges to parks, carparks, neighbourhood hubs, public transport stops, and walking and cycling routes.
Planning and Lands Minister John Carey said, “Our $10 million urban greening commitment provides direct support to projects that will boost tree canopy across Perth and Peel.”
“We have also released the Let’s Grow Action Plan 2026-2030, which provides a framework for coordinated action to boost canopy across State Government, local councils, industry, schools, and the broader community.”
The grants build on several existing greening initiatives, including the WA Tree Recovery Program and the popular Treebates scheme, which has already delivered nearly 6,000 new trees to WA gardens.
Environment Minister Matthew Swinbourn said, “The opening of the first round of the $10 million Let’s Grow grants program builds on the success of these programs, helping to cool our suburbs and enhance habitat for local wildlife.”
How to apply
Round one is now open to schools and community groups in Perth and Peel. Applications close on Monday, June 30th, 2026, or earlier if funds are fully allocated.
