In the latest Perth coronavirus update, Western Australia closes in on absolute 0 with no new cases recorded overnight and now only 5 active cases in the state.

Today marks 7 days in a row in which WA has recorded no new cases and overnight we saw active cases drop from 12 to 5.

While there were no new cases recorded overnight there were 2 historical cases of COVID-19 identified linked to overseas travel in March.

In Victoria, however, they continue to see high numbers of new cases recording another 357 cases of COVID-19 and 5 more people have died from the virus – taking the states total to 536 active cases and 61 deaths.

Despite Western Australia’s continued streak of no new cases Phase 5 of the Coronavirus Restriction roadmap was pushed back by Mr McGowan to August 15th.

August 15th is still a tentative date only, with the government to provide clarity on whether it will proceed in advance of that date.
