As of midnight tonight a lot will change around Perth as restrictions ease and the Perth and Peel region enter Phase 2 of the 9-day COVID-19 restrictions plan.

Phase 2 restrictions

List of all remaining Perth and Peel COVID-19 restrictions:

Further eased COVID-19 restrictions will take effect at 12:01am 6 July, and remain in place until 12:01am Monday 12 July – pending ongoing health advice:

  • Masks will remain mandatory for indoor public venues, including in the workplace and on public transport. Exemptions apply including for medical reasons and primary school aged children or younger
  • Masks will no longer be required in outdoor public spaces where physical distancing is possible or when undertaking vigorous exercise indoors or outdoors. People should use common sense and take a mask with them whenever they leave home.

  • Seated entertainment venues (eg. theatres, concert halls, and cinemas) can operate at a maximum 50 per cent capacity. This also applies for major stadiums.
  • Indoor and outdoor community sport can resume. Spectators will be permitted in line with the 150 person limit and two square metre rule.
  • Indoor and outdoor fitness classes permitted, masks mandatory except when doing vigorous exercise. Two square metre capacity rule and 150 patron limit apply.
  • Weddings and funerals permitted for up to 150 guests.
  • A patient in hospital, or a person in aged care or a disability facility can have four personal visitors per day. Masks mandatory for staff and visitors.

What these restrictions mean for the Perth and Peel region

Masks

Much the same, but if you can physically distance while outside you won’t have to wear a mask.

Bars and restaurants

Venues tomorrow will be able to open up to 150 people as long as individuals are able to keep to 2sqm rule.

Seated service will also not be required meaning you will be able to stand and drink while in venues, however, masks must be worn when not eating/drinking.

Fitness

Your yoga classes are back. Indoor fitness classes and sports are allowed. You won’t need to wear a mask if you are undertaking ‘vigorous’ exercise.

Shopping

Retail venues will be able to allowed to operate under 2sqm as opposed to 4sqm – allowing for more customers to enter venues at once.

House gatherings

You will be able to have more people come over to your house with a limit of 30 people at a home gathering – so fire up the winter BBQ or pizza oven.

Cinemas, theatres and concert halls

Time to grab the popcorn and head back to the big screen. These venues will be able to operate at 50% capacity – masks will have to be worn inside venues.

Stadium and arenas

In welcome news, crowds will be welcomed back at Optus Stadium and RAC Arena at 50 per cent capacity. Pending health advice, they could be operating at full capacity again from July 12.

Masks will be required while at these venues.

Wedding and funerals

From Tuesday all weddings and funerals will be allowed to have gatherings of up to 150 people, though obviously masks will still be required indoors and where social distancing can’t be enforced outdoors.
