Rottnest Island Late-Night Ferry: Stay A Little Longer

After a record-breaking 2023/24 summer season, Rottnest Island / Wadjemup will welcome even more guests for longer with a late-night ferry service this summer.

A welcome addition to summer in Perth with Rottnest Island late-night ferry commencing Thursday, November 14th. Visitors to Rottnest Island will be able to enjoy the famed holiday destination for longer this summer, with a late-night ferry service.

The new service will see the last ferry departing the island at 9:00 pm from Thursday to Sunday until January, and then Friday to Sunday between February and April.

It means day trippers will be able to experience the island after dark and enjoy golden-hour sunset views from some of Western Australia’s most iconic beaches and restaurants.

“As we approach the warmer months and the days become longer, it makes sense to provide these late-night ferries, so day trippers get to experience the incredible island sunsets or enjoy dinner somewhere before heading back to Perth,” Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti said.

“The later ferry will also benefit island businesses, giving them the option to increase their services and roster on more staff to support the busier summer period.”

Special food and drink deals — both fine dining and casual family meals — will also be launched to coincide with the service.

It comes as the island prepares for another busy summer period, following a record-breaking 2023/24 with more than 823,000 visitors by ferry alone.

The late night service will be operated by Rottnest Express, you can find out more via the Rottnest Island website
