WA’s regional travel restrictions will be eased this Friday, in time for the long weekend, the State government has announced.
Premier Mark McGowan has today announced that from this Friday, May 29 (or 11.59pm on Thursday, May 28), travel around WA will be permitted everywhere, except the areas bounded by commonwealth biosecurity determination and 274 remote Aboriginal communities.
“This means people will be free to travel to all regions, except the Kimberley and the biosecurity zones from this Friday,” he said.
“Western Australia’s success in curbing the spread of COVID-19 has been world-leading.

“Now is the time to get out there and see Western Australia and support local businesses in the process.”We know Western Australia is the best and most beautiful place on earth. For now, we have it all to ourselves so let’s make the most of it. So go out and wander around our great state.”Local businesses and tourism operators have been through hell. They need our support more than any time before.”
“If we continue to record low case numbers, I look forward to finalising Phase 3 of the WA roadmap and significantly ease restrictions further across our State.
Travel will be permitted between the Pilbara, Gascoyne, North-West, Goldfields-Esperance, Wheatbelt, Great Southern, South West, Peel and Perth.
Phase 3 of WA’s roadmap will be finalised in the coming days and will outline details by the end of the week.
