Will Perth come out of Lockdown on Saturday?

In the latest press conference today, Western Australia Premier Mark McGowan hinted that things were heading in the right direction with Perth’s 4-Day snap full lockdown.

Earlier today, Western Australia recorded no new local cases of COVID-19 as we entered day 3 of the 4 day lockdown.

15,809 tests were conducted yesterday, and a total of over 42,000 tests have been performed throughout the lockdown period – which is another encouraging sign that Perth might be able to come out of the full lockdown come Saturday morning.

But Mr McGowan stopped short of confirming the Perth lockdown would end on Saturday.

“The next 24 hours are crucial. We need you to get tested. If you’re experiencing symptoms, if you’ve been to an exposure site and even if you’ve already tested negative and then subsequently developed symptoms, we want you to get tested again.” Mr McGowan urged West Australians.

“I want to thank everyone who has done the right thing so far. The more people we have tested the more confidence we can have when taking the next steps.

It is important that every Western Australian keeps checking the website for any new exposure sites, new sites and times will be added when necessary, along with what actions, people need to take. We want to find as many potential contacts as possible. When it comes time to lift restrictions,” said Mr McGowan.

The Perth and Peel public will no doubt be eager for Friday morning’s Perth Lockdown Day 4 update to see which if any COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.

If the previous roadmap out of lockdown is a guide of things to come, then Perth and Peel can expect a 7 day reduced restrictions phase which included masks to still be worn inside and outside where physical distancing isn’t possible and the 2m rules may still be in place for venues around Perth and Peel.
