PICA presents ‘The Irresistible’, a co-production by Side Pony Productions and The Last Great Hunt

Perth’s most exciting performance makers Side Pony Productions and The Last Great Hunt have come together for the first time to create a deeply unsettling theatrical experience, at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA) with only a few days left – with the show concluding 24 June.

The Irresistible is an unrelenting exploration of unconscious bias and the often invisible assumptions we make about one another. Told through a series of intertwining stories, this haunting new co-production is layered and complex, revealing a darkly comic reflection of our world.

“This project marks a creative leap for us. While Tim, Adriane and I are long-time collaborators, this is the first time we have pushed ourselves to marry the visual aesthetic that Tim’s work is known for with the dark, complex narratives that are hallmarks of Side Pony Productions.” – Zoe Pepper, Side Pony Productions

The creative team are joined by some of Australia’s finest artists, including multi-award winning composer Ash Gibson Greig (WA). Designer Jonathon Oxlade (SA), winner of the 2016 AACTA Award for Best Costume Design, Sound Designer Phil Downing (NSW), and award-winning Lighting Designer Richard Vabre (VIC) have all worked alongside Australia’s most innovative theatre companies and bring an extraordinary level of expertise to the production.

A reckless love letter to the subconscious, The Irresistible will take audiences on an adventure into the unknown. The calibre of the team, the ambitious content and the boldness of the work promise a rich new experience for Perth audiences and a thrilling new contribution to the national theatre landscape.
