Prime Minister Julie Bishop – a possible compromise candidate could be the Western Australian representative

Is Australia ready for Prime Minister Julie Bishop ?

The popular foreign Minister, member for Curtin and West Coast Eagles fan is fast emerging as a potential leader of Australia’s Federal government as the chaos in Canberra unfolds.

Bishop is equal preferred leader of the liberal party in online and phone opinion polling in recent days and weeks.

In news.com.au and other mainstream media, opinion was leaning toward a ‘Prime Minister Julie Bishop’ concept.

A reader poll of 30,000 people in News Corp news sites placed Julie Bishop equal with Turnbull.

A Newspoll had Bishop ahead of Bishop 40% to 27% with Dutton at 11%.

Update: 7 News reports Julie Bishop could be PM by tomorrow, saying she will run for Liberal Party leadership in Friday’s likely libspill.

The last and only Western Australian to have led an Australian government was Sir John Curtin, a Labor Prime Minister who led Australia in our darkest hour. As we faced potential invasion and bombing raids by Japan in World War Two. Curtin died in office days before the war ended.

Bishop represents the seat named after him, that spans much of the so called “Golden Triangle” of Perth’s affluent western suburbs, home to billionaires like Gina Rinehart and Andrew ‘Twiggy’ Forrest.

Bishop holds the seat by a significant maegain; winning 70.7% of the two candidate preferred vote in 2016.
