QT Perth Makes For One Sophisticated Stay

Honey, we ain’t in Perth no more. Not when you enter Perth’s latest hotel realm, QT Perth.

QT Perth combines the feel of London’s urban chic and New York-esque rooftop views of a concrete jungle to be Perth’s newest hotel on the city block. The hotel’s understated slick design helps to shape Perth in becoming one sophisticated world-class city – and we are all here for it.

The boutique hotel brings the star power to Perth’s hospitality scene, occupying the space which was formerly Greater Union cinema. Anyone walking through the doors of this corner Murray Street stay would feel like an A-lister from the get-go. (Trust us when you decide to reach in for the camera to flash to your followers where you are in Perth.)

The 18-storey hotel oozes glamour thanks to the keen eye of designers Nic Graham and Shelley Indyk. Its layout is a mixture of upmarket, industrial-chic combined with modern aesthetics; seen throughout its rooms and communal spaces.

Nice bed to perch yourself on.

The rooms

Head to the bedroom, and the QT Perth’s visual experience is amplified. The rooms feature jarrah timber floorings, flecked black and white marble bathrooms, brass taps just to make your stay that extra bit refined.

A freestanding bathtub acts as the bathroom’s centrepiece, sitting between both the shower room (a luxurious rain shower) and toilet. The bathroom is separated from the bedroom sliding screens.

The stylish customised cockatoo wallpaper completes the room’s contemporary design and may subliminally make you want to customise your wardrobe with some bird-inspired hipster wear. (If only the hotel sold matching socks as merch.)

The lights in the room are another story – there are so many of them. It is easy to become confused when working out what light shines where – and that includes the mini-bar. Speaking of which, seen a neon pink mini-bar before?

Now if we get back to basics what matters most – the bed – it would be hard to place fault. If I were to steal a line from Goldilocks, I would say that the beds are not too hard and not too soft, they are just right. Complete with a sea of pillows, I would be surprised if one found it hard to not to have a decent nights’ sleep.

Rooftop at QT

I lied to you before when I said we ain’t in Perth no more. We are – it’s just that Rooftop at QT is fabulously fancy. Not only does it provide a refreshing perspective of our ever-evolving city from both in and outside, but it also allows you to do it with Perth panache.

I personally found it hard to decide where I wanted to sit – on its bar stools surrounding the middle bar, centre egg-style chairs, outside lounge chairs or intimate tables for two fringing its window walls. All areas of the rooftop oozed an intimate setting that was easy to be comfortable in.

After making the hard choice of where to place the coaster, it was time to be a sponge to soak in those sublime Perth views. Those views include the Bell Tower and the brightly lit Optus Stadium – all worthy of a slow intake.

Speaking of soak, cocktails connoisseurs are in for a treat. Thank Perth’s top bartenders for mixing up Perth’s late night drink scene with an innovative cocktail list. The ‘Monkey Mia’ was a standout trickle, comprising of Appleton Signature Rum, banana liqueur, macadamia syrup, coconut puree and a splash of fresh lime.

QT Perth
Hello breakfast! – Santini Bar & Grill.

Breakfast time

The saving grace to nurse that potential hangover from the previous night (we don’t blame you for treating yourself while enjoying the views) is to head to the hotel’s restaurant floors below.

First of all, forget what constitutes a typical hotel breakfast. Santini Bar & Grill is special for providing an upmarket morning feed (and very filling one at that). After all, it was named WA Food Guide’s New Restaurant of the Year in 2018.

Besides having your own fresh to order breakfast (I recommend the hearty Hunter “Cacciatore” Breakfast), you can also opt for a side. The side is not a small one either; it’s a breakfast table buffet upgrade for an additional $25..

There are three tables to journey your fork for extra breakfast treats. On one side of the room, there is a deli slicer on standby serving up fresh cuts of continental meats, a selection of cheeses. Across the room, there is another two tables serving up breads and pastries, small canapé shots of granola, fruit mixes and plates of freshly cut fruit.

I would say the only downside with the breakfast situation is that your eyes will become bigger than your stomach; there is simply too much good food on offer. This then becomes problematic as you may find yourself longing to cosy up between the hotel bed sheets again due to a bout of food coma. In this case, you may want to double check the hotel’s availability for another night. And we wouldn’t blame you for wanting to either.
