Over the rainbow bridge will be the heart of Perth Kings Park.
Perth seems to have a thing for unique bridges of late, Elizabeth Quay, then Matagarup Bridge and now the approval of a ‘Rainbow Bridge’ at Perth Children’s Hospital.
The Kids’ Bridge will provide the unique opportunity for our patients and families to get outside and enjoy the sights and sounds of Kings Park.

However, the addition of the $6.3 million Rainbow Bridge approved by the State Government is nothing short of amazing and you will be hard to find anyone that disagrees.
This foot-bridge will be a welcome addition to the Perth Children’s Hospital as currently kids and families are unable to easily access Kings Park without having to cross the ever-busy Winthrop Avenue.
Upon its completion, the bridge will connect an outdoor area between the hospital and a multi-storey carpark to Kings Park bushland. Allowing families to access the heart of Perth and retreat to the urban surrounds of Kings Park.

Those that are thinking – what a great idea, why didn’t they do this sooner? Well, the plan was for the bridge to open at the same time as the hospital.
“Rainbows introduce us to reflections of different beautiful possibilities so we never forget that pain and grief are not the final options in life.”

The bridge will extend 225 metres by 3 metres over Winthrop Avenue with the construction of the Perth Children’s Hospital Rainbow Bridge scheduled for completion by the end of 2021.
