Kohen Grogan says he will attempt to peddle 23km from Cottesloe Beach to Rottnest in one attempt, on Sunday June 3rd, for NFP charity organisation Class Room of Hope.

The 30-year-old, who founded tech star-up Yappy, said he had been in training for just a couple of months ahead of his epic attempt.

Grogan will ride a specialised floating bike, called a hydrobike, in a journey battling swells, waves and currents non-stop for at least 6-hours.

“A few months ago I had no idea how I was going to pull it off,” Grogan said.

“(It’s) a catamaran with a bicycle mounted in the middle, with a rudder and propeller,” he said.

Kohen is hoping to raise $10,000 and awareness about global education and poverty.

“121 million kids globally don’t have access to any education… I’ve got a massive problem with that and I’m doing something about it.”

“I really wanted to do something completley out of the box… because i want peoeple to be aware just how big the problem is,” Kohen told Mix 94.5 this week.

“For every $1 that’s invested in education in a developing country, the world bank precidcts that it generates 15 times that in economic growth,” he said.

Kohen will leave Cottesloe Beach at 7am Sunday.
