The three-day Southbound event was cancelled after massive fires closed roads to and from Perth.

A number of bands had arrived in Perth ahead of the festival.

Southbound was cancelled just half a day before acts were due to start Friday afternoon.

Major acts due to have been involved at Southbound 2016 include Bloc Party, Paul Kelly, Weird Al Yankovic, The Wombats, Birds of Tokyo, Art Vs Science, Courtney Barnett, Hilltop Hoods, Meg Mac and many others.

“It is with great regret that we have to announce the cancellation of Southbound 2016, due to the fire situation in the festivals surrounding areas,” Sunset Events said previously on Facebook.

Meanwhile, Margaret River DJ Blake McDonald told ABC News local radio today that he was organising a fundraiser gig as well. The event will take place Sunday from Midday at ‘The Common’ in Margaret River, to raise funds for the fire disaster.
