Round one of the 2019 AFL season has just been released.
As it has been for years Carlton and Richmond will kick off the season – not a bad way for the Tiges to ease into the season with a favourable matchup against the lowly Blues, even if they will be vastly improved from 2018.
The MCG will no doubt be at near capacity as two Victorian giants go head to head on Friday night.
In what could be a rotating occurrence – West Coast had first dibs in 2018 so Fremantle will get to open their 2019 campaign at home against North Melbourne, with the reigning premiers having to settle for an away game against Brisbane to start their season. Not the ideal fixture you want to start the season if you are Brisbane.
GWS will also take on Essendon at Spotless as high profile signing Shiel goes up against his old side in the very first game of 2019.
