Who can believe it’s already the last round of the regular season??

This season has FLOWN by. The West Coast Eagles come into this round sitting in second spot on the ladder, a position they will be looking to cement after this week’s clash against the Lions at the Gabba. The Eagles suffered a 17-point defeat at the hands of Melbourne at Optus Stadium last weekend, so they will be looking to bounce back and finish the season on a high. Despite the loss, Willie Rioli was impressive, finishing the game with three goals, while Dom Sheed was the highest possession-getter for the game, managing 31 disposals and a goal.

The West Coast Eagles head interstate for the last round of the regular season, taking on the Brisbane Lions on Sunday at the Gabba. There’s a few inclusions to the initial West Coast line-up, with Oscar Allen, Matthew Allen, Jackson Nelson, Will Schofield and Jake Waterman all being named in the 25-man squad. They come in for Lewis Jetta who is out with injury. Jack Darling pulled up well from his concussion last week and has stayed in the side. Jeremy McGovern is the milestone man this week, playing his 100th game. Congrats Gov!

The Brisbane Lions come into round 23 after a nice 4-point win over the Gold Coast Suns last weekend at Metricon Stadium. There have been five inclusions into the initial Lion’s squad this week. Sam Mayes, Cedric Cox, Oscar McInerney, Corey Lyons and Connor Ballenden come into the side, while Alex Witherden is out with injury. The young Brisbane side hasn’t had a great season however, they will be looking to finish the season with a win, and back up their victory from last week.

I think the Brisbane Lions will give it all they’ve got on their home turf but unfortunately for them, I think the Eagles will be too strong on the day. I’m tipping the West Coast Eagles to beat the Lions by 35 points.
