The Fremantle Dockers AFLW season is now in full swing, and we’re heading into Round 3 this weekend with a battle against North Melbourne, so be ready to cheer the team towards a sweet, sweet victory for our West Oz favourites. While watching the on-field action on TV has us buzzing, it’s the home games like this upcoming one that we’re really hanging out for.
At Fremantle Oval, footy days feel more like a festival than just four quarters. Throughout the game, you can feast on Freo favourites Emily Taylor and Sailing For Oranges, grab free popcorn courtesy of Bankwest or stick to the classics — ice cream, hot chips, and plenty more for all palates and preferences.
Families are covered, too: kids can get inked (with temporary airbrushed tattoos, obviously), whip up their very own bracelet to take home, hit the glitter station, dive into games and giveaways, and even grab a sensory bag if needed.

A pre-game DJ will set the tone for the afternoon, while Fremantle’s colourful community drumming crew Wasamba brings its signature high-energy festival spirit to the stands. The fun continues after the final siren, Maccas’ Kick to Kick and signings from the players in purple.
Things to do in Perth
Tickets are just $15.00 for adults or $25.00 for a three-game pass, while under-18s go free. Throw down a picnic rug or BYO camping chair, settle in by the oval, and feel the Freo Doctor sweeping through, this is AFLW at its finest.
Here are the dates you need to mark in your calendar.
Round 3 (Sunday, August 31) — Freo v North Melbourne
Some games carry a little extra weight, and this is one of them. Indigenous Round will transform Walyalup/Fremantle Oval into a celebration of culture, connection, and community. Before the game, the pop-up Moordijt Markets will be in full swing, showcasing brilliant Indigenous businesses. On the field, players will be trading their traditional guernseys for ones designed by local Indigenous artist, Alicia Janz. And after the final siren, stick around for a live performance from rising Perth band South Summit. With North in town, it will be a fierce clash, but this is a day that goes well beyond the scoreboard.
Round 5 (Sunday, September 14) — Freo v West Coast

Circle this date in purple ink — the RAC Derby is BACK, and Freo will be determined to protect their undefeated record against their WA rivals. That’s right: since the AFLW’s inception, the Freo Dockers haven’t dropped a Derby to the Eagles. Can they keep the streak alive, or will West Coast finally break through? At the time of writing, Freo and West Coast are neck-and-neck on the ladder, which only adds to the tension. There’s nothing quite like a crosstown clash.
Round 6 (Saturday, September 20) — Freo v Essendon
This could be the perfect Spring Saturday: watch the Freo Dockers take on the Dons at Fremantle Oval, then roll straight into the AFL Prelim at your favourite local. Whether you’re loyal to The Local, Sail & Anchor, South Beach Hotel, Federal Hotel, or another one of Freo’s many buzzing bars showing the game, the town will be alive with footy fever.
Round 9 (Sunday, October 12) — Freo v Melbourne
Rainbow flags flying high in the Freo doctor, colourful activations that are as vibrant as the atmosphere, and a crowd that knows how to celebrate inclusivity — Pride Round is one of the happiest rounds of the season. On the field, Freo face reigning powerhouse Melbourne in what promises to be a blockbuster clash. But no matter the scoreboard, this is one round where everyone goes home smiling.
Round 11 (Saturday, October 25) — Freo v Richmond

It feels like just yesterday that AFLW’s first ball was bounced, but a decade on, and the women’s game has carved out its place in Aussie Rules history. This round is all about honouring the trailblazers of the game, celebrating the players of today, and cheering on with the purple army during the last home-and-away game of the season. Freo Oval will be buzzing with nostalgia, pride and plenty of noise. It’s the ideal way to close out a milestone year and ten seasons of AFLW.
