Optus Stadium will again play host to a world-class soccer match-up this July as English Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United bring their century-old rivalry to town.

The exclusive match will take place on July 18th which will make Perth the only place in Australia where you can see English Premier League clubs in action in 2023.

Fans of West Ham United will have two chances to see their team in action, before the showdown with Tottenham, West Ham will take on Perth Glory on July 15th.

These games are set to kick off Perth’s three-week football festival. Five games will be played between July 22nd and August 3rd at Perth Rectangular Stadium (HBF Park) as part of the FIFA Women’s World Cup

“The two blockbuster events have been locked in ahead of the highly anticipated FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 when Perth hosts five spectacular matches as part of the world’s biggest women’s sporting event,” Tourism Minister Roger Cook stated.

Roger Cook isn’t the only one excited about the return of Premier League football to Perth for 2023. Former West Ham United striker and current Club ambassador Carlton Cole said:

“As well as looking forward to playing two exciting pre-season fixtures in Perth, we also have a great opportunity to visit a wonderful country, one that I know loves its sport and is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about football.

“We’re looking forward to meeting our incredible supporters from Down Under and hope that our fans from home and around the world can join them for a festival of football this summer in Western Australia. We can’t wait to be part of this unmissable football experience in Perth.”

The last time these clubs were in Australia

Tottenham last visited Australia in July 2016 and played two matches in Melbourne as part of the International Champions Cup, where they lost to Juventus and Atletico Madrid. The Spurs also went to Sydney where they beat the home team 1-0.

It has been 28 years since West Ham United last visited Australia – coming down under in 1995 for a four-match tour. They were set to play in Australia in 2020 as part of the Queensland Champions Cup, however, COVID forced them to cancel.

Tottenham Hotspurs and West Ham United Lineups

West Ham supporters will no doubt be hoping to see star players such as Lucas Paquetá and Nayef Aguerd taking the pitch against the Glory or Spurs. But, the most notable name that football fans will be looking forward to seeing in action at Optus Stadium is Tottenham superstar Harry Kane.

Currently, however, there has been no confirmation on the lineups coming to Perth for the pre-season tournament.
