Armadale and the Perth Hills are a springtime favourite for many and with events covering flowers, markets, art, music and more you will be sure to find something to mark in your calendar.

It’s Yates Springtime at Araluen

Have you ever experienced 150,000 tulips?

Not only will you see more tulips than you can count, It’s Yates Springtime at Araluen also features hundreds of thousands of other flowers including daffodils, hyacinths and ranunculus to name a few – making this the ultimate spring event to mark in your calendar.

To make the most of this experience it is recommended you set aside a minimum of 2 hours to make your way through the 59 hectare park.

Armadale Hills Open Studio Arts Trail

Get a first-hand look inside the studios of Armadale and the Perth Hills artists as they open their doors to the public.

On the Open Studio Arts Trail, you’ll discover an extraordinary range of art practices and artists nestled amongst the stunning natural beauty of the Armadale Hills environment and best of all get a glimpse into the inner workings and creative process of Perth’s best artists.

Armadale Highland Gathering and the Perth Kilt Run

Yep, you read that right – a fun run with kilts.

Welcome to the only fun run in Australia that’s done in a kilt.

If you ever wanted to go for a run in a kilt… well here is your chance.

But don’t be worried if you don’t have a kilt, you can purchase your very own kilt when you register and try out the 2.5km Classic or the 5km Warrior – but be prepared for a visual spectacle of bagpipes, kilts, and all things Scottish!

After the race, the real fun starts with a medieval fair with Scottish arts and crafts, highland dancing, a bagpipe competition, meet and greet adorable Scottish dogs, watch the intense Heavy Events competitions and of course test your taste buds with the infamous haggis and other Scottish delights.

Make Smoking History Kelmscott Show

The Kelmscott Show is back again in 2019, showcasing a huge amount of exhibitors and stalls along with lots of entertainment, food, and music. We’ll have fireworks Friday and Saturday night and animal exhibits Saturday.

When: October 18 to October 19
Time: October 18: 4 -10pm, October 19: 9am – 9pm

LiveLighter Perth Hills Festival

Perth Hills Festival is about the local community and pride.

The festival is a showcase of local produce from the Hills area with local businesses displaying their products in a wonderful friendly environment for families to enjoy.

But it’s not just the variety of stalls that will draw a crowd – this year you will also be able to up your culinary game with celebrity chef cooking demonstrations and food sampling.

There is definitely fun for the whole family at the LiveLighter Perth Hills Festival.

Outside the Frame

Want to see what makes the youth of today tick and the next great local artists on display?

Outside the Frame Art Awards is a showcase for contemporary artwork from young artists across Perth.

This year in its 20th anniversary will see approximately 100 artworks from students in years 11 and 12 from across Perth present their works in six categories; painting, drawing, prints, sculpture, digital media/photography and textiles.

While attending be sure to place your vote for the People’s Choice Award – doing so could see you win $50 if you vote for the most popular artwork.

Millbrook Winery Spring Lunch

If broadening your knowledge is on your spring 2019 checklist then step back in time and take a guided journey through the Bert Tyler Vintage Machinery Museum and Telegraph Centre.

Be entertained by the friendly local tour guide as you experience a rare collection of twentieth-century engines, including a large woodworking bandsaw used in the Western Australian shipbuilding industry in 1876. Plus a replica Post Office containing early telegraph and other communications equipment.

Each tour concludes with a free relaxing morning tea with prizes for those paying attention – so make sure you pay extra attention.

This you will remember seeing at the Royal Show each year – well this time you can catch all the action at the Jarrahdale Log Chop and Serpentine Jarrahdale Lions Country Fair.

Watch the strength and skill of the log chopping events in partnership with delicious food from a variety of vendors or enjoy a refreshing drink at the licensed bar.

Armadale Society of Artists Annual Art and Awards Exhibition

Over 200 original artworks will be on display over the weekend at the Armadale Society of Artists Annual Art and Awards Exhibition.

This exhibition is well worth the visit for those seeking some added culture this spring whilst seeing some amazing local artists artwork – made all the better with a free Devonshire Tea.

Over the two days, the society holds demonstrations and raffles work by the artists as well as selling programs to raise money for the art society.
