Enjoy nourishing food and heavenly cakes at Genesis in the Hills, tucked away in the lush green hills of Roleystone, visit on the first Saturday of each month to soak up the smooth sounds of live Jazz.
Devour delicious raw treats and herbal teas at Souljah’s Café and Wellness Centre; browse their retail section and stock up on goodies to take home. Hit up the Organic Circle to try what we think is the best vegan burger in Perth, washed down with a green goddess or mango mantra smoothie.
Get your caffeine fix
You’ll need your energy levels for a day exploring the hills, and we’ve handpicked the best places for a coffee break. For a coffee on the run, drive through Bean Thru in the heart of Armadale who roast their own fresh coffee daily on site.
For something a little more substantial head to Orchard Espresso in the Roleystone hills, grab a coffee and a protein box or salad to go.
If you are a bike enthusiast put Hidden Specialty Coffee at the top of your list, located within the EMR Bicycle Suspension Specialists, serving fair trade single origins from around the world as well as their own house blend. Remember to grab one of their delicious bagels while you’re there.
Looking for a quirky twist? Head to Wonderlust Café for speciality coffees, like beetroot, turmeric and matcha lattes as well as the adventurous avo-latte! Heard of bullet proof coffee?
The Organic Circle serves up this creamy coffee delight consisting of butter, coconut oil and espresso.
Calling all early birds, brekkie options await
The early bird gets the avo smash, start your day right with breakfast from Wonderlust Café, will you go traditional with a big breakfast or eggs on toast, or indulge in apple crumble crepes or banoffee French toast?
We love their Wondermites menu with smaller options designed for little tummies.
If you are all about the latest craze, head to Timber Café in Harrisdale to try Kombucha in a variety of flavours.
Dine with your little foodies
Dining out with your family in Armadale doesn’t have to break the bank, with so many family friendly options you’ll find something for even your fussiest little foodies.
Head to Hog’s Breath Café in Kelmscott, where kids eat free all day every day!
Chill out on the banks of the Canning River at Avocados in Kelmscott for breakfast or lunch.
You’ll find plenty of kid friendly options as well as platters designed for sharing. Say hello to the resident geese and embrace the tranquillity while the kids play in the secure, shaded playground.
Sample local wines and ciders
Head to the regions premier dining event of spring, the Spring Long Lunch at Millbrook Winery (30th September). You’ll start your day with a tour of the winery before heading to the restaurant for a wine matched long lunch prepared by head chef and gardener Guy Jeffreys.
Can’t make the 30th of September? Not to worry, the restaurant is open for a la carte lunch Thursday to Sunday or visit on a Monday to take part in an innovative dining experience, ‘No Waste Mondays’. There is no set menu; instead you will receive unique creations produced from ingredients left on hand from the weekend along with fresh produce from the onsite vegetable and herb garden.
More of a cider fan? Head to Core Cider House in Pickering Brook to sample a range of traditional and unique ciders like sparking ginger and pear or the classic apple.
Go on your own foodie adventure
Hit the road and explore foodie delights, purchase fruit direct from orchards and road side stalls, stock up on cheese from Borello and go fossicking at markets for locally made jams, chutneys and spices.
Wander through Raeburn Orchards and admire the gentle pink hues of the spring blossoms.
Stop off at roadside seasonal stalls as your drive through the hills where you’ll find the honesty system still exists, purchase small quantities of fruit and support local growers.
