Canning Vale is hitting its prime.

Partnering with Pindan as part of their boutique Botanica development we have taken a deep dive into the streets of Canning Vale, throwing a spotlight over the thriving Perth suburb.

While prospective home owners are being encouraged to look to the outer suburbs of the metro area as urban sprawl continues to grow, there has never been a better time for home owners to take a look closer to the CBD with established suburbs providing affordable and attractive solutions.

Located just 16km from the heart of the CBD you could be mistaken for thinking Canning Vale wasn’t close to the action, however this isn’t further from the truth – situated merely minutes from the Kwinana Freeway and off the main artery Roe Highway lives a thriving multi-cultural established suburb.

But it’s not just all about location, location, location – Canning Vale is a suburb that has a bit of everything, from surprise hidden gems, markets and activities for the kids to an evolving eats and drinks scene.

Here is a taste as to why Canning Vale is on the rise and hitting its prime.

Sanctuary Waters

Put your sneakers on and get ready to hit the 1.7km dog-friendly walking trail at Sanctuary Waters.

Surrounded by open grass areas, preserved bushland and shady tress, Sanctuary Waters is a perfect place to take in a morning walk/jog and to let the kids be ‘free range’. Also, not to mention a shaded playground to keep the kids entertained.

With numerous pavilions, tables and free BBQs it’s a perfect place to get out in the fresh air with family and friends for any occasion.

Tasty Eats

No fuss, quality dining options are a plenty in Canning Vale.

Number one on the list is the CY O’Connor Pub, serving up one of Perth’s best steak sandwiches since 2015 – it’s worth the trip even if you don’t live in Canning Vale.

Looking for something to push the boundaries?

The burger scene in Perth has exploded over the last 12 months and Canning Vale is in the thick of it. Johhny’s Burger Joint is a must for any burger punters – serving up delicious and gram worth burger creations.

The New Carousel

Living in Canning Vale you are within striking distance of one of Perth’s biggest shopping centres.

In case you didn’t know, Westfield Carousel shopping centre recently underwent a $350 million redevelopment – adding 60 new stores, a multi-deck carpark, an open-air lifestyle and leisure precinct, a fully refurbished 14-screen Hoyts cinema, and to top it off over 20 new restaurants.

So, for those times when you need to grab a new outfit, see the latest blockbuster, find the perfect present, catch up with friends for a bite or to have a little bit of fun at Holey Moley, which is sure to be a favourite with the kids (mini golf, Strike Bowling & karaoke) – Westfield Carousel is the upgrade you need in your life.

Canning Vale is located approximately 12 minutes from the newly revamped Westfield Carousel shopping centre.

The Markets

If Carousel isn’t for you – then you will be happy to know you can spend a lazy Sunday morning at the Canning Vale Markets or visit the local family friendly Gosnells Railway Markets.

Canning Vale Markets

Located on the corner of South Street and Bannister Road, the markets have evolved into a vibrant mecca of new and second-hand selling stalls buzzing with families and bargain hunters.

Grab that one of a kind unique pre-loved gem or add a personal touch to your wardrobe or home with hand crafts – there’s truly something for everyone and there is nothing like supporting locals.

Canning Vale Markets are open every Sunday from 7am-1pm.

Gosnells Railway Markets

A main stay since 1990, at the Gosnell Railway Markets you will find locally owned and operated stalls – providing a truly unique a friendly experience.

From fresh food to coffee and cake, sweets and lollies, gifts, home decor, quirky clothing, electronic games, collector cards and much more.

A week won’t be complete in Canning Vale without a trip to the Gosnells Railway Markets.

  • Very Fresh open 7 days a week 7:30am – 9pm
  • Food Hall open Thursday – Sunday 9am – 8:30pm
  • Retail Market open Thursday – Sunday 9am – 5pm

What about the kids?

As mentioned above Sanctuary Waters and Carousel provide great experiences for families and in particular the little ones (or the young at heart.) However, another couple of gems to highlight among many within the region are Walter Padbury Playground and Castledare Miniature Railway.

Walter Padbury Playground

There has been an explosion of state of the art playgrounds popping-up all over Perth in recent years and the Canning Vale area is no different. Located less than 10 minutes from Canning Vale centre is the Walter Padbury Playground, located at Walter Padbury Park.

Kids can climb over the dinosaur bones, test their balance, challenge their bravery or simply run free in the wide-open spaces at Walter Padbury Playground – which will be a guaranteed hit with your kids.

Castledare Miniature Railway

Looking for something a little left of centre and different from a park or playground in the extended backyard of Canning Vale?

Approximately 15 minutes away you will step into a different world at Castledare Miniature Railway, where adventure awaits.

Castledare Miniature Railway is Australia’s longest 7 1/4″ gauge railway, running miniature trains through the Canning River Regional Park in Perth on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month and having done so for generations.

At just $6 per ride for adults and $3 for children (under 2 years old are free) this could easily become a monthly event in your household.
