ABC News reported that the 500-metre Swan River oil slick began to form this morning around 9:00am.
The Department of Parks and Wildlife said in a statement to media it was working to mitigate the oil’s impact on the Swan River, with absorption booms deployed.
It’s not yet known what caused the spill.
Department of Parks and Wildlif manager Roland Mau said, “We have deployed absorption booms to contain the spill and recover as much diesel as we can.”
