Just in time for summer, Perth… well more specifically Scarborough will be getting its first Irish Pub where beachgoers can enjoy the perfect pint of Guinness overlooking the Indian Ocean – welcome to The Galway Hooker.

From the team who brought Perth one of its longest-running Irish Pubs, Durty Nelly’s, ARK Group advises this will be the next generation of Irish Pub.
Stocked with Australia’s largest Irish whiskey selections, with over 70 to be exact, and a Guinness only cool room – The Galway Hooker and its team will be dedicated to pouring the perfect pint of Guinness and showcasing the best in Irish hospitality along Scarborough’s foreshore.
Lee Behan, Dublin native and ARK Group operations manager advises that the new addition will make the perfect pub addition for locals and tourists alike.
“Scarborough is buzzing, this venue will add even more vibrancy to the area. Irish Pubs are known for their hospitality and great atmosphere and we’ll be taking this to the next level with an impressive range of quality food and drinks.”
What’s in a name?
The story of The Galway Hooker starts in the 19th century with a fisherman’s boat iconic to Galway Bay for ‘hook and line’ fishing. Crafted to navigate the shallow waters, they were small, tough and notoriously prone to sinking on the wind ravaged shores of the West Coast.
Designed and built from Ireland by GGD Global, the pub is being shipped over and reassembled on our shores. Paul Moloney, the venue manager of Galway Hooker says they’ve paid special attention to detail to create an authentic Irish Pub experience.
“We’ve gone to great lengths to feature the iconic trademarks of an Irish Pub, in the beautiful coast setting of Scarborough. The venue will play host to cosy nooks, snugs, a live stage for the bands and an elevated alfresco area that overlooks the Indian Ocean – at the heart of the venue is an actual Galway Hooker boat.”
When will The Galway Hooker open?
Due to open its doors end of November, from the friendly shores of Ireland to our stunning coastline at Scarborough, there really isn’t anywhere else you’d want to sink a perfectly poured Guinness this summer.
