Perth’s longest laugh-makers’ The Laugh Resort Comedy Club have a new home at city heart.

The Laugh Resort Comedy Club (est 1991) will return to regular programming from 21 November in a brand newly built location, inside The Shoe Bar & Café, Yagan Square.

Perth’s longest running not-for-profit association run for and by comedy industry practitioners presented a weekly show in Northbridge for 25 years, nurturing talents including Hughesy, Jim Jefferies, Rove, Claire Hooper, Dave Callan, Sami Shah, Joel Creasey and many more.

Club President Alex Manfrin said after a two year hiatus, the association’s new board of management is pleased to bring back the Wednesday night institution Perth’s live comedy scene grew up around.

“I overheard The Shoe publican Paul Higgins talking about a new function room,” said Manfrin.

“He’s a good friend of the scene, having hosted comedy in his previous venues, and it was great timing as Laugh Resort had been looking for a new home in the city. So for us, The Shoe was a perfect fit.”

Ideally located where Northbridge meets the CBD, the 100 seat venue will host The Laugh Resort monthly from November, as well as it’s month-long Fringe World program of multiple shows per day by local and touring artists soon to be revealed.

“With a few comedy promoters missing from Fringe this year, we feel well-placed to create a hub for stand-up which gives artists the support and fair deals you’d have hoped they’d been getting all along,” said Manfrin.
