Latest Perth COVID-19 update for week commencing Monday 12th of October.

From Monday 12th of October, Western Australia has recorded 15 new cases of COVID-19 and now has 17 active cases within the state.

Of the 15 new cases within the state this week – 7 have been from the Vega Dream the bulk iron ore carrier.

The remaining cases are a results of travellers returning to Perth and are all currently in hotel quarantine.

6 of the 7 confirmed cases from the Vega Dream have since left State jurisdiction and therefore, are no longer active cases being monitored by WA Health. The remaining crew member remains in hotel quarantine in Perth.

  • Total cases: 709
  • Recovered cases: 683
  • Active cases: 17

For the week 3,047 individuals have been tested and swabbed for COVID-19 in Western Australia.

There have been a total of 458,327 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those tested, 78,187 were from regional WA.

WA’s Hard Border To Be Revised in Two Weeks

After multiple announcements that WA’s border would stand well into 2021 health advice from WA’s Chief Health Officer, Dr Andy Robertson has advised a review to occur after two weeks.

“The Quarantine (Closing the Border) Directions should remain as currently promulgated but should be reviewed in 2 weeks’ time.” he stated in a letter to Mark McGowan.
