As more and more people are working from home and staying at home, in general, it has been reported that Transperth has seen an approximate 80% drop in public transport users due to Perth’s coronavirus crisis.
As a result of such a dramatic decrease in patrons, Perth will be reducing services for both trains, buses and CAT-bus from April 6 to April 26.
How will Transperth services be cut?
- Trains and buses will move to Saturday timetables
- Midnight rail services on weekends will stop
- Free CAT-bus services will be reduced from April 6 to April 26
- Ferries will operate on the winter timetable on a daily basis
- TransWA services will continue for those travelling for work or compassionate reasons
“Public transport is a vital service that we will continue to provide throughout the pandemic to ensure essential workers can get on with their jobs.”
Ms Saffioti
While the drop in public transport users is also a welcome one with such strict rules being enforced on social distancing – buses and trains will be monitored closely to see if additional service will be required to ensure safe transport of Perth public transport users.
