Welcome to the Wildflower West.
Not only is Western Australia famous for its beautiful beaches, coastal sunsets and amazing weather, but also for the world-class selection of wildflowers on offer to marvel at in our perfect spring sunshine.
Hosting the biggest selection of wildflowers in the world, at over 12,000 species, Perth is the hotspot of magical everlastings, orchids, myrtles and more.
There is only one true way to really explore the wildflowers of the West, and that is on the walking trail.
Here are the best wildflower walking trails of Perth – just make sure to take your hay fever medication before you go.
Law Walk, Kings Park and Botanic Gardens
If you are after a short walk close to the city, with an abundance of wildflowers and beautiful river and city views, then Kings Park and Botanic Garden is the perfect place.
Kings Park boasts over 3,000 varieties of wildflowers unique to WA and you can get a fantastic taster of this as you meander your way along the 3km Law Walk loop.
This trail follows the Mt Eliza escarpment, along the promenades of the edge of Kings Park, and looping back through the manicured botanic gardens.

Zamia Trail, Bold Park
If you are after a short but sweet heart pumper to explore the spring blooms, then a visit to the ‘sanctuary by the sea’ should be on the cards.
Bold Park is known for its beautiful walking trails and city to ocean views, and of course, you are bound to find this urban oasis thriving during the springtime with sweet scents of florals.
The 5km Zamia trail highlights the entire Park, but we do recommend an extra stop at the Raebold Hill summit lookout.
Hidden Secrets, Araluen Botanic Park
Another absolute highlight for the wildflower walking trails in Perth is the magnificent Araluen Botanic Park, and another opportunity to perfectly match manicured botanic gardens with the rugged beauty of natural bushland.
Located in Roleystone, Araluen has a diverse range of exotic plants and of course the iconic tulip display. Pack a picnic and enjoy a day out to sit
amongst the tulips after a beautiful 4km walk amongst nature.
For the ultimate experience, take a hidden secrets tour with The Hike Collective, to get behind the fence of Araluen, and into the untouched beauty of the park.
Wildflower Walk Trail, John Forrest National Park
While we are in the Perth Hills, let’s take a walk through John Forrest National Park on the aptly named Wildflower Walk Trail.
This 4km loop in Perth’s first National Park will have you jumping for joy as you marvel at the WA wildflower beauty in all its natural glory. This trail is beginner friendly and will take you about 2 hours to complete if you are enjoying it for all it’s worth. We definitely recommend taking your time on this one.
Syds Rapids & the Echidna Trail, Walyunga National Park
We all know and love the Swan Valley for the amazing food and wine, but what about the wildflowers?
Walyunga National Park provides an amazing array of trails to enjoy the
wildflowers from, including the Syd’s Rapids Aboriginal Heritage Trail which provides a nice 7km return trail along the river.
Head out to Walyunga National Park after some rain for the most incredible rapids display to complement your wildflower discovery journey.
Wireless Hill Wildflower Walk, Alfred Cove
Another city hidden gem, Wireless Hill will pleasantly surprise you with its eucalypt woodlands and native blossoms as you meander along the beginner-friendly 1km walk trail.
We recommend taking a picnic to enjoy here, as you take in the stunning beauty of springtime.
So, what are you waiting for? Spring is the time to adventure out where the wildflowers are and discover the best wildflower walking trails in Perth.
