Whiteman Park’s In Full Bloom

Whiteman Park is the place to be this school holidays.

Despite it being a slow start to the season, spring has officially clocked in. The days are stretching longer, the wildflowers are in full bloom, and the crisp spring air is calling for an outdoor adventure.

If you’re looking for somewhere that makes the most of this sunny season, Whiteman Park is the answer. Sprawled across 3,700 hectares of natural bushland and leisure space, this postcard-perfect pocket of Perth is a world of wildlife, heritage rides, museums, playgrounds, walking and cycling paths, and boutique shops — all less than a half-hour drive from the city.

Explore Trails and Native Wildlife

There’s no better time to lace up and hit the many trails winding through Whiteman Park. The mild weather means it’s perfect for a gentle family stroll or a more extended ramble for birdwatchers and nature lovers in search of lizards, turtles, and other native critters

When the sun dips, the park reveals one of its most enchanting experiences. The guided Nocturnal Woylie Walks invite you to explore the Woodland Reserve by torchlight, spotting the park’s resident (and critically endangered) marsupials as they emerge from the shadows.

All Aboard The Vintage Transport Adventures

Prefer wheels to walks and whiskers? Climb aboard Whiteman Park’s vintage tram and trains, rattling and clattering through the bushland and heritage precincts. The rides are charmlingly nostalgic, but there’s more than just a trip past the trees.

The park’s transport, tractor, and motor museums are brimming with history — gleaming vintage cars, quirky tractors, and old-school machinery. By the time you’ve hopped off a train, wandered through the exhibits and posed with a tractor, you’ll feel like you’ve travelled through time without leaving Perth.

Play, Picnic, Pause, Repeat

The warm weather brings out the park’s playful side. While adults refuel at the Village Café and browse the surrounding boutique shops, pedal karts, four separate playgrounds, and open lawns offer hours of distraction for children of all ages.

Multi-sport courts and open lawns also give older kids and adults a space to throw a ball, kick a footy, or set up a casual game of cricket. And while we can’t guarantee the kids will nap on the drive home, it’s highly likely everyone in the household will be sleeping soundly after a day of outdoor adventures.
