Rocky Pool, Piesse Brook

Rocky Pool walking trail and swimming hole
Source: @soups_tony

Trail: Piesse Brook Interpretive Trail / Distance: 3-4km

This sanctuary is tucked nicely away from public view, and provides a ‘pretty as a picture’ swimming hole after the rain.

There are a few ways to access this sweet spot, from a day on the Bibbulmun Track, the 5km Rocky Pool Loop, or the 3km Piesse Brook interpretive trail. You have to time this one right, because it is one of the first spots to dry up come the warmer weather, but definitely worth a trip.

The Basin, Rottnest Island

Trail: Gabbi Karniny Bidi / Distance: 10km

Rottnest Island is famous for its beautiful beaches, but did you know that there is a 45-kilometre walking trail network on the Island that lends itself to incredible multi-day adventures?

The Wadjemup Bidi is a 5 part trail network, with each section boasting culturally and environmentally significant landmarks to interpret and experience. To take in the Basin on your trail adventure, you will need to find your way along the 10km Gabbi Karniny Bidi ” Discover the Salt Lakes”, or make a day of it, and start at the West End and make your way back up along the Northern Beaches.
