Say What? That’s right Twitter is currently working on a new product that will let you share tweets that are longer than 140 characters, according to Recode reports.

The 140 character on Twitter has been a trademark of the social network since day one. It’s unclear however what the product will look like, but sources say it would enable Twitter users to publish long-form content to the service.

A current Twitter employee reportedly told Recode:

[quote_center]People have been very precious at Twitter about what Twitter can be and how much it can be evolved. Having Jack come in and say it’s okay makes all the difference in the world.[/quote_center]

While this news may not have come as a complete surprise given Twitter has already removed the Direct Message 140 character limit – it is still a massive potential change for the social networking giant as they look to increase user growth.

So what are your thoughts? Will you welcome to extra characters to your tweets or do you think this will take away from Twitter’s short, sharp, burst of information?
