Tougher border restrictions are now being placed on Victoria from midnight tonight.
With more than 12 million Australians in lockdown across Australia as health authorities around the country battle outbreaks of the highly infectious Delta coronavirus variant, Western Australia is taking further border measures to protect the state.
As of midnight tonight, Western Australia is putting tougher travel restrictions on Victoria, introducing a hard border with the state.
This means no one who has been in Victoria within the previous 14 days will be allowed to enter Western Australia without an exemption.
This also means that WA will now have hard borders in place with Australia’s three biggest states Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.
Any West Australians currently in Victoria are being urged to “return without delay”.
Victoria today recorded 10 local cases while New South Wales recorded a further 97 cases.
