#WADay Festivities for 2015 – Whats on in Perth?

State of the Art Music Festival

The Perth Cultural Centre comes alive to celebrate #WADay with live music and activities including exhibitions, interactive art, workshops, tours, films and more. Birds of Tokyo and You Am I headline the day.

The State of the Art (SOTA) music festival on Saturday 30 May presents a talented line-up of emerging and professional Western Australian musicians.

Monday June 1 #WADay 

Come Out & Play

Come Out & Play on Monday 1 June, is a great day out for young and old, with a series of family friendly programmed activities.

It’s not just in Perth, Come Out & Play will extend to Port Hedland, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie and Albany. WA Street Food Also part of the event is a WA Street Food promotion, reflecting the changing and diverse communities across Western Australian, bringing an international flavour to Come Out and Play in Perth.

Heritage Perth Walking Tours

Free walking tours will be on offer thanks to Heritage Perth, starting at the Old Court House in Stirling Gardens and ending at the Town Hall. Tours commence at 12pm and 2pm and booking is essential.

Community Art Projects 

Community art projects will also be held across the weekend, including an ‘ArtCrawl’ through some of Perth’s premier art galleries, a special screening of Australian film Paper Planes at 2pm, and a world premiere screening of a documentary exploring the Aboriginal six seasons Walking Together — ‘Belonging to Country.’

The community canvas will return to unite people in the creation of a traditional indigenous Australian dot painting and PICA Perth will host a number of installations, including the HATCHED Graduate Showcase and the Spark Lab Education Studio.

Perth International Jazz Festival

From the 29 – 31 May an incredible lineup of jazz performances will take place across a series of venues in the heart of the city, showcasing a host of celebrated local, national and international jazz artists.
