The WBBL Perth Scorchers have won an emphatic victory against the Hobart Hurricanes in Sydney today.

The WBBL Perth Scorchers won by 17-runs, with Suzie Bates, Elyse Villani and Katherine Brunt the stars.

The ladies came out swinging in the first innings, with Captain Suzie Bates and opener Elyse Villani smashing it.

27-year-old Villani scored 54 runs from 45 balls.

Bowling success came from from Katherine Bates in the second innings, the English star took 2-18.

Electing to bat after winning the toss, the Scorchers hit North Sydney oval with great confidence.

Elyse Villani and Suzie Bates were crushing it, with 4’s and hard running in the opening overs.

The final total for the first innings was 4-142, with Perth setting a very competitive pace.

Katherine Brunt showed huge energy in the blowing attack right off, the English International teared through Hayley Matthews of the Hobart Hurricanes in the sixth over.

Brunt passionately jumped for joy in a display of celebration reminiscent of former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee.

Moments later, with the adrenalin pumping, Brunt took another wicket in Heather Knight, caught by Lauren Ebsary.

Heather Graham joined the fun, bowled out Satterthwaite for 18, making it 4-62 after 11 overs – with Perth’s batting track well above this point in the first innings, things were starting to look very good for the WBBL Perth scorchers.

Moments later, Captain Suzie Bates (bowled by Emma Biss) takes a big catch, making it 5-62. Then in the 14th over, Emma King took to the bowling attack and took down Maloney who manages ten runs.

The fun was just getting started with Rebecca Grundy taking her first ever wicket for the WBBL Perth Scorchers in the 16th over – now it was 7-92.

With three overs left, Grundy took another, with a catch by bating star Villani.

Graham took her second wicket in the 18th, and after a small scare from Hobart’s remaining bat attack, Perth held on easily for the win.
