Boyz II Men are returning to Perth this November, and they’re bringing some friends with them. Nathan Morris, Wanya Morris, and Shawn Stockman will play RAC Arena, joined by rap royalty Salt-N-Pepa and new jack swing pioneers Bell Biv DeVoe — the latter performing in Australia for the very first time.
It’s a stacked bill of 1990s R&B and hip-hop, and Perth is the first stop on the Australian and New Zealand tour.
Three acts who shaped a decade
Boyz II Men have sold more than 64 million albums, picked up four Grammy Awards, and earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. End of the Road spent 13 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, breaking a record previously held by Elvis Presley, and I’ll Make Love To You topped the charts in both Australia and New Zealand. One Sweet Day with Mariah Carey, On Bended Knee, and Motownphilly round out a setlist that most millennials will know word for word.
Salt-N-Pepa are the first female hip-hop act inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Cheryl “Salt” James, Sandra “Pepa” Denton and DJ Spinderella sold more than 15 million records and turned Push It, Shoop, Whatta Man, and Let’s Talk About Sex into all-time great hits that are featured on just about every 90s playlist on Spotify. In 1995, they became the first female rap act to win a Grammy, and in 2021, they collected the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
And Bell Biv DeVoe helped invent new jack swing — R&B harmonies stitched to hip-hop beats — and their quadruple-platinum debut Poison spun off hits including Poison, Do Me! and B.B.D. (I Thought It Was Me)?. This will be their first time performing in Australia.
