What’s On In Perth This February

From Perth Festival's 108-event program and Wildcats run to Finals to free Monday movies, oyster shucking masterclasses, and a Fleetwood Mac tribute on Rottnest, here's what's on in Perth this February.

February in Perth is shaping up to be one of those months where the hardest part is choosing what to do first. Perth Festival is back with 108 events spread across 23 days, the Wildcats are charging toward Finals at RAC Arena, and there’s a compelling mix of free films, art exhibitions, live circus shows, and hands-on oyster shucking sessions dotted throughout the month.

Whether you’re after a cultured evening in Northbridge, a day trip to Rottnest, or a family-friendly splash at Whiteman Park, here’s what’s worth putting in the calendar this February.

Mini Water Playground at Whiteman Park

Water play is a fantastic way for little ones to cool off during the summer months. Toddlers and young children can splash and explore in the 30cm-deep wading pool at Whiteman Park, complete with interactive water spouts. This mini water playground provides a refreshing and safe space for families to enjoy during a visit to this iconic park.

The playground is open daily from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm throughout the warmer months. There are plenty of shaded areas surrounding the pool, offering comfortable spots for supervising adults.

Conveniently located directly opposite the Village Café, the pool area makes it easy to grab a coffee or sweet treat while the kids play.

When: Open daily from 10.00 am – 5.00 pm
Where: Whiteman Park
Entry is free

This year’s Perth Festival program, running from February 6th to March 1st, is taking the scale, creativity, and ambition you expect from Australia’s longest-running arts festival, and inviting you to experience it all in places outside the ordinary. Office buildings, bridges, riverbanks, power stations, cathedrals, hidden bars, and more come into play across 23 packed days.

The sheer scale is impressive: 108 events, including 13 Perth Festival commissions, 20 world premieres, nine Australian premieres, and 24 feature films. And with 33 of the experiences on offer completely free of charge, it’s easier than ever to wander, discover, and stumble across something worth your time.

Cheer on the Perth Wildcats

It’s time to join the Red Army.

With Finals action already locked in, the only question now is how high up on the ladder the Wildcats finish. The team has been playing strongly, and there are only a couple of home games left until the end of the regular season. If you haven’t been to a game before, now is the time. It’s always an entertaining fan experience from the minute you arrive at The Jungle right up until the game ends.

In February, there are three games you should go to:

  • February 6th versus the Cairns Taipans
  • February 13th versus the Brisbane Bullets
  • February 20th versus the Adelaide 36ers

The game against the Adelaide 36ers will be the final home game of the regular season, so let’s make it a sellout!

Learn The Art Of Shucking With Oyster-King Jerry Fraser

Perth’s oyster lovers are being handed the knife — literally. Local oyster master Jerry Fraser is hosting a high-energy shucking session on the Electric Terrace at Servo in Leederville, leading an intimate dive into Albany rock oysters from Leeuwin Coast.

Equal parts demonstration and participation, you’ll sip a spritz, pocket your own shucking knife, and crack through 18 oysters from the get-go. With limited spots across two sessions, advance booking is required.

When: Sunday, February 22nd at 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm
Where: Servo, 9 Electric Lane, Leederville

Landslide: A Fleetwood Mac Tribute At Yacht Rock

Soft rock, salty air, and a very good excuse to turn a day trip into a full-blown island affair. Yacht Rock is taking over Hotel Rottnest with Landslide, a live tribute to Fleetwood Mac, with Yacht Rock DJs spinning all day long.

Entry is free, the energy is pure summer, and with a 9:00 pm late-night ferry running via Rottnest Express, there’s no reason to rush back to the mainland.

When: Saturday, February 7th, from 12:00 pm to 11:00 pm
Where: Hotel Rottnest, Rottnest Island

Catch A High-Flying Circus Or Cult Parody Show

Northbridge’s Ice Cream Factory is quietly carving out a reputation as one of Perth’s most exciting live performance spaces, and this season’s double bill makes a compelling case. London Calling brings polished, high-impact variety to the stage, weaving circus, illusion, comedy, and classic ensemble theatre into a show that’s as energetic as it is accessible. For something with a sharper edge, MARVELous flips pop culture and cult films on their head with an adults-only parody featuring aerials, live vocals, dance, and a knowingly risqué streak.

When: Tuesday, January 27th to Sunday, February 8th
Where: Ice Cream Factory, 9 Roe Street, Northbridge
Tickets are available here.

Free Monday Movies At Cinema Club

Forget the Monday blues. Cinema Club is turning the most overlooked night of the week into a proper night out, with free weekly screenings at The Rechabite Hall in Northbridge. The lineup leans into cult favourites and crowd-pleasers — think The Wolf of Wall Street, Ready Player One, and Blade Runner — served up with cinema popcorn, in-seat ordering, and rooftop drink specials.

When: Mondays from 7:30 pm
Where: The Rechabite, 224 William Street, Northbridge
Free tickets available here.
