Plied and Prejudice reimagines Austen with a wild Perth twist

Get ready for mischief, mayhem, and a heavy pour of gin — Plied and Prejudice is now showing at His Majesty’s Theatre. This side-splitting adaptation throws five performers headlong into 20 roles and 90 minutes of Regency-era romance, costume chaos, and off-the-wall comedy. Expect love, class, and scandal, but with more liquor and far fewer manners as a hilariously inappropriate cast (including local talent and musical theatre misfits) brings Jane Austen’s classic to life like the BBC never would.
From WAAPA-trained triple threats to jazz-singing Pisceans, the Plied and Prejudice ensemble promises a cocktail of sharp wit, irreverent humour, and enough costume changes to make even Mrs Bennet blush. With a new twist every night and a cast that’s never quite the same, it’s a night out for Austen fans, comedy lovers, and anyone who’s ever wished for more wine and less decorum in their Regency dramas.
When: July 18 – September 28

Doggies Day Out at Whiteman Park

Whiteman Park is rolling out the red carpet for four-legged family members with this year’s Doggies Day Out event on Sunday, September 14th. This free event will take over Mussel Pool West, transforming it into a canine carnival that celebrates the joy and companionship dogs bring to our lives. Expect everything from fancy dress competitions for the doggies to Pitch Pawfect, where we’ll see whose pooch can sing the best. Kids will be well looked after too, with a doggy-themed bouncy castle, face painting, and airbrush tattoos on offer.
For the more anxious and nervous doggos, the day will start with Quiet Hour from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, a low-sensory session with animal behaviour experts on hand for advice and support.
There’ll also be exhibitors on the day, showcasing their latest collars, leashes, treats, and everything in between.
A full program for the day can be found here, and you can register for the Doggie Competitions here. This will be a free day out that will have wagging tails all round.
