Perth will introduce wider community testing for coronavirus from today.

As reported by WA Health Minister Roger Cook yesterday, Perth will see an increase in it’s testing capabilities implementing a wider community testing initiative from today.

Who can be tested?

It’s not an open door for everyone in the state.

In a statement by Mr Cook, anyone in WA showing signs of a fever (38C or above) and acute respiratory infection (shortness of breath, cough, sore throat) can be tested for COVID-19.

Previously only individuals who had returned from travel and or been in close contact of a traveller and or known coronavirus confirmed case were tested.

Who should avoid testing?

Do not attend unless you have symptoms AND meet the above criteria, including documented evidence.

People presenting at COVID clinics may be infectious.

People who don’t have symptoms and evidence will be turned away and asked to self-monitor for symptoms.
