YELLO Festival: A Festival Never Seen Before In Western Australia

Follow the YELLO brick road.

Ever wondered where the fabled YELLO brick road will take you?

This YELLO road will take you on a unique adventure, celebrating spring and the best that Western Australia has to offer, as you unearth a smorgasbord of tastes and talent that will surprise and tantalise your senses at every turn.

The State Buildings, located in the historic heart of Perth CBD, will throw open its doors for YELLO on Saturday October 19 – a festival never seen before in Western Australia. Immerse yourself in the arts as you discover world-class Western Australian entertainers hidden in the vibrant, cultural hub of the State Buildings.

Soak up the visual feast of Pippa McManus‘ incredible live art installation in the Cider Orchard. Widely acknowledged as one of Australia’s most sought-after fashion illustrators, Pippa will bring her impeccable talents to life and demonstrate why she has become one of the state’s most in-demand artists. Revel in her figurative artistic approach over an equally delectable tasting of ciders from Funk Cider as well as Western Australian fruit juices.

Combining infectious grooves, emotive melodies, risk-taking improvisation and extreme dynamics, multi award-winning 7-piece ensemble DSUS Afro-Peruvian Jazz Group will radiate their joy within the grand architecture of the breathtaking Postal Hall, the beating heart of the State Buildings.

Followed by one of Australia’s most exciting talents, Allira Wilson and Wilson’s Racket, reinterpreting the greatest pop, blues and RnB hits from the modern mastery of Prince, Ben E. King, Kylie Minogue and more.

To close the festival, Soukouss Internationale will explode with outrageous rhythms and pumping sounds, showcased by their multicultural collective of high-energy African song and dance Congolese music. A celebration tipped to the diversity of Western Australia and so worth shaking to! Your tastebuds will also be dancing thanks to some delicious drops from Western Australia’s wine pioneers including Vasse Felix, Howard Park and Leeuwin Estate

Five-piece Bavarian-style horn ensemble, Oompah! will give you that ‘Hofbrauhaus’ feeling with their repertoire of foot-stomping, thigh-slapping tunes. Along with five-piece acapella jazz vocal group Koko, and the classically beautiful string sounds of Dolce Duo. You never know where they may pop up as you ease into a locally loaded YELLO tasting plate over the course of a luxuriously lazy afternoon.

The stunning surrounds of The Treasury Lounge and Bar will be perfectly complemented by the richly elegant jazz vocals of WAAPA songstress, Lucy Iffla. Accompanied by Oliver Vonlanthen on guitar, this duo will drive your sophisticated sit-down surrounded by the exquisite Cape Arid art collection, adorning the walls.

No matter where your YELLO journey leads you, our towering stilt walkers, led by Perth’s most multi-talented and accomplished jazz singer Libby Hammer, will captivate and delight. With Hammer-created costuming, perfectly embodying some of Western Australia’s most iconic flora – this is the ultimate photo opportunity!

Drop into Petition Wine Bar & Merchant and Petition Beer Corner to celebrate the best small-batch wines and boutique craft brews Western Australia has on offer.

The Long Chim team led by multi-award-winning Bar Chief, Dean Buchanan will be shaking up Western Australian-inspired cocktail creations utilising local produce along with spirit tastings from global heavyweights.

Guided by the season’s bounty, Post will be showcasing premium Western Australian ingredients with a contemporary Italian twist as well as a selection of Italian varietals grown in Western Australia from Juniper Estate and Amato Vino
