Set only 27 kilometres from Perth, Joondalup is a place where boast-worthy food and drink, nature, and entertainment collide. In terms of getting there, the destination is easily accessed via the Joondalup train line — with the station nestled right in the city’s heart. Once you’re in town, the free CAT bus is a great way to move around.

8:00 am: Breakfast at Gipsy Boy

Start your day trip with a hearty breakfast from Gipsy Boy. This cosy little coffee shop is tucked away in the back streets of Joondalup and it’s too good to gatekeep. There’s plenty to choose from, whether you’re craving one of six bagels on offer, smashed avocado, or French toast.

10:30 am: Cinnamon scroll pit stop

After all that pampering, you’ll be forgiven for having worked up an appetite, so stop by Cinnayum for some of the most decadent cinnamon scrolls you’ll ever lay your eyes on. We’re talking raspberry white chocolate, cream caramel, biscoff, brownie bites, and apple crumble. It will be hard to choose just one!

11:00 am: Burns Beach coastal walk

Hop into the car and head to family favourite, Burns Beach for a walk or ride along the shared coastal path. The white sand beach is a sheltered swimming spot that sits within the wildlife-rich waters of Marmion Marine Park. Keep your eyes peeled for seabirds, dolphins, sea lions, and rays. Make your way north towards Mindarie through Tamala Park Conservation Reserve for some spectacular coastline views. Or head south to check out the progress on the Ocean Reef Marina development. 

1:30 pm: Lunch at The Iluka

If you’re feeling the familiar pangs of hunger setting in, grab a lunchtime feed at The Iluka. The classic UK gastro pub charm will have you feeling like you’re oceans away from Perth. Food-wise, be sure to try the award-winning steak sandwich which took the crown as WA’s best in the 2023 Australian Hotels Association competition.

3:00 pm: Golf at Joondalup Resort

Nestled among tranquil natural bushland, Joondalup Resort is an oasis of relaxation, comfort, and state of the art facilities. While you’re in town, check out Joondalup Country Club’s 27-hole championship golf course. The spectacular golf course sweeps across dense bushland, cuts through steep limestone quarries, and skirts picturesque lakes to present surprises and challenges at almost every turn. Pick between the Quarry Course, Dune Course or Lakes Course, or just set yourself up on the driving range to finesse your skills.

5:00 pm: Sunset drinks and dinner
