From extraordinary cultural precincts to where to dine along the way, this day trip itinerary connects you with all of the best things to do in Perth’s inner city.

8:00 am: Browse the Subi Farmers Market

The early bird gets the worm, so start your Perth day trip with a visit to Subi Farmers Market. Based at Subiaco Primary School, it’s one of the state’s oldest farmers’ markets and takes place every Saturday morning. With more than 80 stalls worth a gander, you’ll find all things fruit, vegetables, preserves, breads, and condiments, along with live, local entertainment. While you’re at it, grab some picnic items for a lunchtime feast later on.

9:30 am: Breakfast at Mimosa

When it comes to weekend breakfasts, it’s not Mimosa’s first rodeo. Set in the heart of Subiaco, the café is the sister venue to Tiisch, making it part of the origin story of the Perth bottomless scene. Settle into the light-filled space for the ultimate brunch of avocado toast, banana pancakes, or chilli scrambled eggs. And wash it all down with a cold-pressed juice, smoothie, or caffeinated brew. Once you’re done, swing by the nearby Farmer Jacks to top up on picnic items.

11:00 am: Take a tour of Kings Park

Jump in the car and make your way to the internationally renowned Kings Park — a Perth day trip paradise comprising 400 hectares of grassed parkland, botanical gardens, natural, and native bushland. The inner-city park is one of the world’s largest and most beautiful, which is a surprise to absolutely nobody, especially with its spectacular vistas of the Swan River, Perth City skyline, and Darling Range. It’s also home to around 3,000 species of unique flora, bush trails, and immaculate gardens. Whether you’re interested in cultural experiences run by local Noongar people or a bike or segway adventure, you can take your pick from a range of tours available.

1:30 pm: Light picnic lunch in Kings Park

The Kings Park and Botanic Garden is the perfect place to picnic, with playgrounds galore and endless space for kids to explore. Whip out the picnic rug and settle in for a picnic lunch by the State War Memorial — where ANZAC Day services are held annually. You’ll be forgiven for stopping for a cliched city skyline photo while you’re at it.

Nestled in Leederville’s bustling centre, the chic Italian wine bar pairs a relaxing atmosphere with meticulously crafted bites. Romulus is the new kid on the block when it comes to the Leederville foodie scene but has already honed the art of Mediterranean snacks, pastas, and plates that will well and truly scratch your European summer itch. If you’re feeling peckish, choose a couple of dishes to pair with the moreish cocktail list.
